What We Offer

Both anecdotal knowledge and scientific data show when children are exposed to a range of experiences in their early years, they achieve better educational outcomes. In addition, that exposure uncovers a wealth of possibilities previously unknown. With the knowledge that there is a world out there to discover, many students’ curiosity and desire to learn pushes them toward broader and more expansive life experiences as they age.

Our goal is to serve as the conduit for that exposure. We’ve grouped our offerings into three categories (education, the arts, and life enrichment), as we believe that this is the trifecta that delivers the most impact to a child’s life in a short amount of time. Receiving educational supports, learning about culture through the arts, and expanding an awareness of possibilities through different lifestyle-related activities is the way to ensure these children have an early understanding of the breadth and depth of life experience.

Below is a listing of items we aim to provide through donor support. We welcome all customized forms of support, so if you’d like your support to go toward a specific item or experience, or to offer something not listed here, please contact us to discuss further. We’d love to partner with you!

TYEF Brings Peter and the Wolf

One of TYEF’s first experiences was delivered in September 2019, thanks to a partnership with the Avant Chamber Ballet.

From board member Craig Holcomb:

“In the school gym, eight professional dancers and seven musicians from the Dallas Symphony performed a one-hour version of “Peter and the Wolf” before several hundred pre-K through second graders.

It was glorious.  The students sat on the floor and were mesmerized.  The microphone was not working, so they had to imagine the story. At times, I burst out laughing from sheer joy.

When one of the ballerinas did a perfect cartwheel ending in a split, you could hear the oohs.  Many times the performers received spontaneous applause, from pre K to second graders!  Especially effective was the bass drum as gun shots from the Cossacks. As the children left, many were showing their ballet skills.”

This performance of Peter and the Wolf is representative of the expanding, enriching experiences TYEF will bring to the children of South Dallas/Fair Park. Your resources and partnership can help bring these opportunities to life!
